Opportunity Card Visa (Chancenkarte)

Enter Germany to seek work with the new points-based Opportunity Card.

Overview

The Opportunity Card is Germany's points-based visa that lets qualified professionals move to Germany to look for work. We assess your points, prepare your application, and guide your job search once you arrive.

Key Requirements

  • Proof of sufficient financial means
  • Health insurance

Key Benefits

  • Move to Germany without a prior job offer
  • Up to one year to find qualified work
  • Part-time work allowed while searching

Route 1 — Recognised Skilled Worker

Applicants may qualify if they have a German qualification, or a foreign university degree or vocational qualification that is fully recognised or comparable in Germany, together with relevant professional qualifications and experience.

Route 2 — Points System

Applicants may qualify through the points system with a recognised or comparable university degree or vocational qualification, German A1 or higher or English B2 or higher, relevant professional experience, age-related points and other qualifying factors under the Opportunity Card points system — reaching the minimum required points.
