Do I need to know German to study in Germany?

Not always. Many Bachelor’s and especially Master’s programs are taught in English, so you can be admitted with limited German. German-taught programs need a higher level (often B2 or above). Either way, some German makes daily life and your visa much easier, and we can arrange language training to get you ready.

How much money do I need for a German student visa?

Yes, international students are allowed to work part-time within the limits set for student visas, which helps cover living costs. The exact number of days or hours and how it interacts with your studies is something we explain based on your situation.

What is a blocked account (Sperrkonto) and is the money refundable?

Accepted Answer

A blocked account proves you can support yourself for your first year. You deposit the required amount before your visa, and it is released back to you in monthly instalments once you are in Germany. The money is yours. Only the provider fees, visa fee and insurance are actual costs.

What is the difference between Ausbildung, a degree and the Opportunity Card?

A degree is university study. Ausbildung is Germany’s paid dual vocational training, where you earn while you learn a trade. The Opportunity Card (Chancenkarte) is a points-based visa that lets qualified people move to Germany to look for work. Do you help nurses move to Germany?

Which German language certificate is accepted?

Widely recognised certificates include those from the Goethe-Institut, telc, TestDaF, DSH and ÖSD. Which one you need depends on your pathway and the institution. We help you pick the right test and prepare for it.

Do you only work with students from Negombo and Kochchikade?

No. Our office is in Kochchikade, near Negombo, and we welcome walk-in visits, but we support students from across Sri Lanka, in person and online, and on WhatsApp.
